Gurjar community has long history dated back from 7th Century CE.
Gurjar society is one of the ancient and prestigious societies. This community is also known by the names Gujjar, Gujar, Gojar and Veer Gurjar. There are about 85 gotras of Hindu Gurjars. They have been brave and valiant since ancient times. Mainly settled in North India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The name of this caste also appears in the national anthem of Afghanistan. Due to the historical influence of Gurjars, many places in India and Pakistan have been named after the Gurjar caste. Like Gujarat, Gujarat district of Pakistan Punjab, Gujranwala, Gujar Khan city. According to history, Bhinmal was the capital of Gurjar empire in the 5th century. Gurjars were in power in many places from the sixth to the 12th century. The power of Gurjar-Pratihar dynasty extended from Kannauj to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Mihir Bhoj is considered a great ruler of the Gurjar dynasty. The Arab invaders have praised the power and administration of the Gurjars in their inscriptions. Gurjars had an important contribution in the revolution of 1857. Kotwal Than Singh Gurjar was martyred in this revolution. Brave women like Panna Dhay, friends like Vishaldev Bainsla, brave people like Moti Ram Bainsla gave respect to the Gurjar community. The Gurjars, who were harassing the British, were declared rebels by the British. Gurjars, once associated with agriculture, are now doing better work in business, politics and civil services.
The family deity of Gurjar community is Deri Mata, Devji is a worshiper of Bhairavji. If we look at their Khaps, the main ones are Koli, Dahiya, Halsar, Khatan, Bhadak, Nekdi, Chad, Bhati, Genda, Doya, Sardhana, Padhiyar etc.
